What to Expect

Cancellation
Full payment is required for a no show or missed appointment. A $35 fee may be charged for less than 24-hour notice of cancel or reschedule.

However, please cancel if you’re sick!  I know it’s hard to cancel a massage after you have been waiting for your appointment, but if you get a cold, bronchitis or the flu just before or the day of your massage, make that call and cancel (there is not financial penalty – I don't want to accelerate your symptoms with massage and I don't want your germs spread to me or other clients).

Arriving late for a schedule appointment may require shortening the length of treatment without a reduction in the massage charge.

General Massage Information

In the United States, most massage is done on a massage table while the client is undressed (generally completely undressed or many clients prefer to leave on underwear).  The client should always be covered with a sheet (and blanket) and only the area currently being worked on should have the sheet turned back. I will leave the room and allow you to get undressed and under the sheets in privacy.  At the end of the massage, I’ll leave the room again to allow you to get dressed in privacy.

The areas that are massaged are up to you.  Many people want an all-over relaxing massage and others just want specific areas worked on.  Some people prefer not to have their feet touched and other love foot massage.  This is part of my customizing a massage to suit your needs.  Just let me know.

Whether there’s talking or it’s quiet is your decision.  I find that I give a better massage when there is no talking.

Please tell me if anything is uncomfortable or if you want the pressure changed (either lighter or firmer).

Soft music that helps you relax is playing in the background (unless you prefer no music).

My massage tables is equipped with a table warmer for your comfort.  The temperature it is set on and whether or not is on, if your choice.

You’ll receive a better massage if you remove jewelry.  But I can generally work around jewelry you leave on.

If you didn’t like your massage, please tell me – preferably during your massage - so I may try to make adjustments to better suit your needs.

Tipping

Most massage therapist are tipped.  I prefer not to be tipped because I like to think your massage appointments are part of your health care.  And, other health care practitioners are not tipped.

You can show your appreciation by booking with me again and by telling your family and friends.  Referrals and reviews are the best way for me to build my practice.

Other helpful Information

I probably cannot fix months worth of pain in one hour. Yelp reviews are full of massage miracle stories! Some clients feel 100% better after one session, but if the pain is chronic, it is more likely that symptom improvement will take several sessions.

I don’t care about your hairy legs — I hear this a few times a month from clients. You don’t need to apologize for not shaving.

Drink plenty of water before and after your massage appointment.

You might feel sore after your massage -  soreness is a normal physiological response (like after a workout) and not an injury.

Taking a warm bath/shower and avoid strenuous exercise for a few hours – both will help your muscles remain relaxed.
